“A Bailarina” is the first single from the new album “O Método”

“A Bailarina” is the first single from Rodrigo’s new album and BMG International debut “O Método” out February 21. Featuring the voice of his youngest daughter Sofia and the 20-strong AMAC Youth Choir, “A Bailarina” is also the first video of the album, animated by the Oskar&Gaspar studio from original drawings by Rodrigo (featured as well in the album cover).

This was one of the very first songs I wrote for the new album, and I wrote it with my wife, Ana Carolina, who has collaborated regularly with me on lyrics.

It was inspired by a mother singing her daughter to sleep, so there’s a childlike innocence to it. That can also be seen on drawings I made at the time, some of which were animated for the video, and some of which are used on the album artwork.

“A Bailarina” is a good example of the change I see in this new album. It’s a hopeful, happy, melody, where the use of the electronics works perfectly with the human element of the voices.

The lyrics are sung by my youngest daughter Sofia, with background vocals by Ângela Silva, Viviena Tupikova and the AMAC teenage choir. The words she is singing are made-up. I deliberately set them in a non-existant language to underline the spiritual, dreamy side of the music.
