RODRIGO LEÃO – NEW SINGLE ‘ANDAVA EU…’ feat. FRANCISCO PALMA | NEW ALBUM IN APRIL

After two sold-out dates in Lisbon to present his new compositions to his live audience in anticipation of the new album, Rodrigo Leão has released a video clip for the second single from the album due out in April.

‘ANDAVA EU…’ is the title of the second advance single from Rodrigo Leão’s forthcoming album, available today on all platforms. ‘Andava Eu…’, featuring Francisco Palma on vocals, is the title of the second advance single from Rodrigo Leão’s next album. The successor to ‘O Rapaz da Montanha’, the single that announced this new chapter in the Portuguese composer’s long career, once again features lyrics by Ana Carolina Costa, arrangements by Rodrigo Leão, João Eleutério and Pedro Oliveira and string arrangements by Carlos Tony Gomes.

It’s another piece of work in which Rodrigo Leão draws on formative memories from the period in his late teens when he began to take a serious interest in music, in the 70s.

Supported by Viviena Tupikova on violin, Bruno Silva on viola, Carlos Tony Gomes on cello, João Eleutério on synthesisers, Frederico Gracias on drums and percussion, José Peixoto on classical guitar and António Quintino on double bass, Rodrigo Leão recruits a promising young singer for the vocals, Francisco Palma, whose surname carries with it a distinct musical lineage that reaffirms precisely the connection between this music and the songbook of the era in which the struggle for freedom was fought for. With Rodrigo Leão’s distinctive watermark well expressed in the melodies and harmonies that cradle the evocative words, ‘Andava Eu…’ is yet another contribution to unveiling what the composer sees as a new chapter in the adventure he likes to call ‘The Portuguese’, songs in which he rehearses different approaches to our language: ‘but there’s a different tone, the arrangements are new, the inspiration comes from somewhere else,’ Rodrigo emphasises.
