“Já Sabia” – new single – now available

Rodrigo Leão presents ‘O Rapaz da Montanha’ live on 29 March at Casa da Música – Porto
Rodrigo Leão has just released ‘Já Sabia’, the third single that previews the arrival of his new album, ‘O Rapaz da Montanha’, scheduled for release on 25 April by Galileo Music. Music composed by Rodrigo Leão himself and lyrics by Ana Carolina Costa, ‘Já Sabia’ is a deep and intimate song, exploring the personal strength found in learning to say ‘no’ and move on.

In this single, Rodrigo Leão takes on the vocals, synthesiser and bass, and is joined by an outstanding artistic cast, including Ana Vieira, Sofia Leão, Pedro Oliveira and Ana Carolina Costa on vocals, José Peixoto on classical guitar, Celina da Piedade on accordion, Viviena Tupikova on violin, Bruno Silva on viola, Carlos Tony Gomes on cello and Frederico Gracias on drums and percussion. ‘Já Sabia’ reflects the musical and lyrical depth that characterises “O Rapaz da Montanha”, a work that Rodrigo describes as the most Portuguese album of his career, standing out for the collective sound of the choirs and the marked presence of the percussion. This work is presented not as a rupture, but as a natural evolution that is coherent with the composer’s career, always keeping alive the musical identity that defines his career.

‘O Rapaz da Montanha’ is a work produced in partnership with Rodrigo Leão, João Eleutério and Pedro Oliveira, and features special collaborations ranging from established artists to new talents, including close family members of the composer. Among the outstanding collaborations is the immediately previous single, ‘Andava Eu’, with the special participation of Francisco Palma.

‘Já Sabia’ is already available on digital platforms, reinforcing the emotional depth and musical innovation that Rodrigo Leão has been revealing on this long-awaited album. Even before the album’s official release, Rodrigo Leão has been showcasing this work live, with sold-out concerts in Lisbon on 28 and 29 January at the Centro Cultural de Belém, and will also be in Porto on 29 March at the Casa da Música, providing yet another opportunity to experience this new work in advance.
