{"id":5930,"date":"2020-02-01T19:37:19","date_gmt":"2020-02-01T18:37:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rodrigoleao.pt\/?p=5930\/"},"modified":"2020-02-19T19:37:37","modified_gmt":"2020-02-19T18:37:37","slug":"o-metodo-rodrigo-leaos-new-stage-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rodrigoleao.pt\/en\/o-metodo-rodrigo-leaos-new-stage-production\/","title":{"rendered":"O M\u00e9todo: Rodrigo Le\u00e3o\u2019s new stage production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cThis may be my most intimate and atmospheric concert.\u201d This is how composer and performer Rodrigo Le\u00e3o defines the stage production for his new album <em>O M\u00e9todo<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s a concert that invites the audience to enjoy the silence and the tranquillity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Portuguese musician says this tour, coinciding with the release of his new album on 21st February, \u201chas my classical and electronic influences more present and explores them deeper. Also, for the first time in my tours, I\u2019ll be playing the piano a lot more instead of the synthesizer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On stage, Rodrigo (piano and synthesizer) will be accompanied by a small ensemble of long-term collaborators: \u00c2ngela Silva (vocals, synthesizer and metallophone), Viviena Tupikova (violin and vocals), Carlos Tony Gomes (cello) and Jo\u00e3o Eleut\u00e9rio (guitar, bass, synthesizer, percussion and Indian harmonium).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso for the first time in my concerts, \u00c2ngela Silva will use her voice in less conventional ways, like just another instrument\u201d as Rodrigo explains. This is because several of the songs in <em>O M\u00e9todo <\/em>do not have traditional lyrics as such but feature vocal illustrations in an invented, made-up language.<\/p>\n<p>In every city of the tour, Rodrigo is inviting a local youth chorus on stage to perform the choral parts that, on the record, were sung by the Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Musical dos Amigos das Crian\u00e7as Choir.<\/p>\n<p>The strongly visual production will have video work from Gon\u00e7alo Santos, illustrations by Rodrigo Le\u00e3o, and lighting by Miguel Ramos and Nuno Salsinha.<\/p>\n<p>The quieter, simpler arrangements of <em>O M\u00e9todo <\/em>will also mean a new look for the older material that will be performed live. The set lists will feature material from Rodrigo\u2019s 25-year career but carefully chosen and re-arranged to fit the production\u2019s new approach. As Rodrigo says, \u201cThe concert will feel very cohesive, very unified, even though we\u2019ll be performing material from the last 25 years.
