\u2018ANDAVA EU…\u2019 is the title of the second advance single from Rodrigo Le\u00e3o’s forthcoming album, available today on all platforms. \u2018Andava Eu…\u2019, featuring Francisco Palma on vocals, is the title of the second advance single from Rodrigo Le\u00e3o’s next album. The successor to \u2018O Rapaz da Montanha\u2019, the single that announced this new chapter in the Portuguese composer’s long career, once again features lyrics by Ana Carolina Costa, arrangements by Rodrigo Le\u00e3o, Jo\u00e3o Eleut\u00e9rio and Pedro Oliveira and string arrangements by Carlos Tony Gomes. <\/p>\n
It’s another piece of work in which Rodrigo Le\u00e3o draws on formative memories from the period in his late teens when he began to take a serious interest in music, in the 70s. <\/p>\n
Supported by Viviena Tupikova on violin, Bruno Silva on viola, Carlos Tony Gomes on cello, Jo\u00e3o Eleut\u00e9rio on synthesisers, Frederico Gracias on drums and percussion, Jos\u00e9 Peixoto on classical guitar and Ant\u00f3nio Quintino on double bass, Rodrigo Le\u00e3o recruits a promising young singer for the vocals, Francisco Palma, whose surname carries with it a distinct musical lineage that reaffirms precisely the connection between this music and the songbook of the era in which the struggle for freedom was fought for. With Rodrigo Le\u00e3o’s distinctive watermark well expressed in the melodies and harmonies that cradle the evocative words, \u2018Andava Eu…\u2019 is yet another contribution to unveiling what the composer sees as a new chapter in the adventure he likes to call \u2018The Portuguese\u2019, songs in which he rehearses different approaches to our language: \u2018but there’s a different tone, the arrangements are new, the inspiration comes from somewhere else,\u2019 Rodrigo emphasises.
